The PTCE is the national certification exam administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) evaluating candidates across 4 knowledge domains: Medications (40%), Federal Requirements (12.5%), Patient Safety and Quality Assurance (26.25%), and Order Entry and Processing (21.25%).

How many questions are on the PTCE exam?

The exam consists of 90 multiple-choice questions (80 scored and 10 unscored) with a time limit of 1 hour and 50 minutes. Passing score is 1400 on a scaled range from 1000 to 1600.

What math is required for the PTCB exam?

Candidates must master alligation grids, IV flow rates (drops per minute), pediatric dosage calculations (Clark's and Young's rules), metric conversions, and days supply formulas.
